First Impressions a Quick Look at the MR1

The gun comes packaged in a fairly sturdy box. We always recommend keeping the box so if you ever sell the gun on ebay or need to ship it back to Kingman for a warranty claim, it will ship correctly.

The gun package comes with the MR1 gun, the detachable stock, a barrel plug, a feed neck elbow, and the instructions pack. The pack includes an information sheet or the owners manual. It gives you basic warranty information, an exploded view of the inner workings of the gun, some safety directions, trouble shooting help and basic gun operating info. Not a real detailed manual but definitely something to hang on to. The kit also includes two allen wrenches, two spare o-rings, a bolt for attaching the stock, a spare bolt/screw and a cup seal.

The gun feels fairly robust. The grip and trigger frame especially feel very beefy. The trigger guard has plenty of room for a player to wear gloves. The grips are soft and seem to grip well even when wet. Although, they maybe too soft and wear out quickly.

The sight rail or dove tail for mounting accessories is cut up and maybe not very useful. The feed neck cuts one side of the rail very short and the back section could be disturbed by the clearance of the bolt pin. A person wanting to use the rail would have to get an adaptor. Also, the line of site down the rail is difficult to elevate to your eye when the stock is installed. There is little to no cheek clearance against the stock.

My initial impression of the trigger is that it feels solid. It has a bit of side to side play and some spring tension noise when pulled but, an understandable amount for a gun in this price range. The length of the trigger pull will limit its rate of fire and has no adjustments. A more serious player should make an electronic trigger frame a priority update. A nice feature of the trigger is the safety, its a typical push button designed for a right-hander.

The gun comes with a small drop forward and bottom line. An interesting note; the drop forward uses an inline bolt pattern instead of the usual Spyder offset pattern. This could be a problem for a player who has existing Spyder accessories planned for the offset. The bottom line and drop forward are very durable and built from metal. With a tank installed the gun feels very balanced. Better than other guns in its price range.

The guns appearance matches that of a scenario based mil-sim look. Its feel and construction is that of a more expensive gun. With the gun fully assembled there is no play between the stock and barrel or the sim-magazine and drop forward, it feels very solid.

If your looking for a woodsball or scenario based gun for under $100 or a gun for a starting player, we highly recommend the Kingman Spyder MR1. One of the Best Guns available for under 100 dollars. An upgradable marker with a tough scenario look and good features.
