Airsoft GunsAirsoft Guns are realistic looking guns that fire a 6mm plastic pellet. The pellet is powered by a spring, electric motor, CO2 cartridge or by hand pumping the air into the gun. Generally the pellet fires at 300+ feet per second depending on the gun and the set velocity. Airsoft is designed specifically to play war type of scenario games. The 6mm pellets are available in a simple plastic, a metal coated or a mini-paintball style. The guns can range in appearance from and AK47 assault rifle to a Beretta Police issue pistol. Price of the guns ranges from $10 to well over $1,000 for a fully tricked out high end model. Eye protection(i.e. facemask) is required to play and clothing covering the skin is recommended. Although Airsoft isn't deadly it can leave a welt when hit. ![]() Airsoft Assault Rifle Many paintball fields hold Airsoft scenario events and sell Airsoft Guns in their Proshops. The pellets are also commonly available and considerably cheaper than paintballs. Unlike paintball, Airsoft doesn't leave a paint mark unless using mini-paintballs. Generally a player that has been hit is on the honor system to announce he has been hit. This is usually done by raising his or her hand and stating "I'm hit" or I'm out". Many of these guns have bosses for mounting realistic accessories such as scopes, slings, red dot sights and auxiliary lights. The guns have minimal maintenance and only require occasional cleaning and oiling. For more Airsoft Resources Please visit our Directory. (Redwood 10/10/06) |
